Maxime Baas (born in 1999) is a self-taught abstract artist living and working in Delft, the Netherlands. Her work and colour palettes capture femininity, vulnerability and a combination of silence and today’s hectic world. Inspiration she finds both in memories of a certain feeling or place and in unexpected observations. She combines her inspiration and ideas with intuitive practise, letting her subconcious speak too while painting.
By working mostly on unprimed canvases and leaving space untouched, her art is given a sense of nature and rawness. Texture is added to her work with parts of newspapers and illegible handwritten notes. Although she loves working with soft tones, she also reflects expression and strength by contrast and mark making.
